VOLITION

In the new millennium we anticipate that sampling will become even more of a force behind the development of new music. We also think that the current trend of hard/alternate/rock will grow. Currently, the majority of bands falling into this category are led by male frontmen. The new millennium will see more bands in this genre, like Volition, with women as the lead singer.

We also believe that the internet will have a huge impact on the music industry, with the major labels losing the grasp they hold on being the only way for bands to "break" onto the music scene. The internet will allow bands to "do it yourself". The upside is that the internet will afford musicians the opportunity to become successful. The downside is the musicians won't be inline for the big money provided by the major labels.

Bio:
Three years ago Cat and Dan began a collaboration established through a common interest in similar soundscapes and musical ideas. With the addition of Jay on bass and Dave providing a solid, textured percussion, Volition was born.

They have sought to produce a unique sound based on a heavy, driving mix of shades and tensions. Cat's melodic vocals create a hauntingly dark and sexy sound. Guilty Pleasures, their first CD, has just been released on hamster records. Listeners on the internet have provided Volition with top 10 songs on MP3.com and MP3VAULT.com websites. Their song "Rat Song" has received airplay on WAAF (http://www.waaf.com) and WBCN (http://www.wbcn.com), local radio stations located in Boston. Volition steadily plays live in Boston and New York .
