We all know that the
color black is very beautiful. But navy, burgundy,
dark purple, hunter, russet, blood red, dead rose red, and white
can have
similarly dramatic effect.Dark velvet curtains, especially when
done in burgundy or navy, create a soft atmosphere that is also
rich and bold. For example, in my bedroom the curtains are a
heavy burgundy fabric. I keep the curtains tied back with navy
velveteen ribbons exposing my black window blinds. My room is
cursed with a bland brown carpet. But I have lifted the curse
by covering it up
with a Persian-inspired rug. The rug, as well as the large lounging
pillows I have scattered over it, echo to the soft opulent comfort
of the curtains.
