The idea of a gothic bathroom may
seem almost impossible, but with a little imagination, it can
be pulled off. Try the eerie gauze of mosquito netting for a
shower curtain. I don't take showers, so netting alone is fine
for me. If you do shower, a clear shower liner behind the netting
will unobtrusively keep your bathroom floor dry. If you donít
like the netting idea, consider hanging beads. My bathtub has
large, wide sides that allow me to display beautiful objects.
In one corner, I feature a large red candle on a cast iron candle
plate. I also use the bathtub as the showcase for my finely crafted
dragontail pewter goblet. I have lined the wall with an assortment
of Moroccan and Indian perfume bottles and crystal vials.
I am very lucky to have a vanity table
in my bathroom. Upon my table, I have small coffin jewelry boxes
and a victorian wooden chest filled with make-up and other hygiene
products. To the right of my vanity table is my sink. I have
a small oval dish with hand soap and in a small black vase I
keep toothbrushes. If you don't have a bathtub with extended
sides or a vanity table, use a baker's rack to hold your precious
and necessary bathroom items. You may also want a clock. There
are many affordable waterproof styles in keeping with a gothic
motif. You may also think about splurging on a bathing or water-based
statue. Witb time and creativity, the sal de bain will soon manifest
your gothic essence.
